Time Is Of The Essence

A couple of week’s back the Neon Jackpot team had a jolly to London to attend ICE (the International Casino Exhibition) to have a nose around what exciting new games might be around the corner from our favourite game developers. One of the prime targets for us was Microgaming’s stand, not only because it had its own bar (seriously, this talent scouting lark is thirsty work), but because it was teasing some new releases with quite a bit of hoopla. Amongst these was Just For The Win’s Shogun of Time. It was stirring quite a buzz, and for that reason we were keen to get it from the future into our players’ present faster than Dr Who. And as of last week, it’s landed in the Neon Jackpot universe.

The Twist In Time

Part of the buzz around Shogun of Time lies in the cool reel modifying twist to its base-game. It’s an instantly distinctive online slot amongst the herd since it has four rather than the ubiquitous three or five reels of most other slots. Indeed we can’t think of any other four-reel slot we’ve come across! But that four reel format hides a secret – the Reel Split Re-spin. Our full review goes into greater detail on its potential to trigger, however the effect is to add a surprise extra middle reel into play boosting this game’s initial rule of 81 Ways to Win per spin into the richer possibilities of 243 Ways to Win and five-of-a-kind pays.

Strange Ways

We, and our players, seem to love Ways to Win slots, especially ones that can dynamically increase those ways by intriguing mechanisms – this concept is core to the Megaways games from Big Time Gaming, and their success is now the stuff of legend. Shogun of Time falls into this category so, apart from being a very cool looking slot, we suspect its Reel Split Re-spin feature will be a reel treat for any Neon Jackpot player that’s already a Megaways maniac.
